President Mahama grants IGP Yohuno a two-year tenure extension.

President John Dramani Mahama has approved a two-year extension for Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno, based on a recommendation from the Police Council.

The extension will allow IGP Yohuno to continue steering ongoing police reforms and strengthening national security operations. According to sources, the decision is intended to ensure continuity in security management and sustain the progress made under his leadership.

Appointed earlier this year, IGP Yohuno has been praised for boosting police visibility, improving crime-response strategies, and advancing community-policing initiatives nationwide. He had originally been scheduled to retire in December 2025.

Although an official announcement is yet to be made, the extension positions him to continue overseeing major security programmes, modernisation efforts, and personnel development within the Ghana Police Service.
