The family of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, has officially declared that her final funeral rites will take place on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Independence Square in Accra.
Delivering the announcement on behalf of the family, Oheneba Akwasi Abayie, Otumfuo Akomforehene, confirmed that the ceremony will begin promptly at 6 a.m. with the arrival of the cortege at the ceremonial grounds.
“The funeral activities will start at 6 a.m. with the arrival of the cortege at the Independence Square, Accra,” the family stated in a Facebook post.
The bereaved family expressed heartfelt gratitude to the public for the sympathy and support extended since her passing.
Mourners have been instructed to wear black attire only, with the family clarifying that no special funeral cloth has been produced for the occasion.
“Attire for the funeral is Black, and there will be no official clothes for the ceremony,” the statement added.
The funeral service will be open to the public, and attendees are encouraged to take part fully. Security and protocol officers will be present to direct guests to their assigned seating areas.
The family emphasized that the Independence Square ceremony represents the final funeral rites, with no further services scheduled after the burial.
They also appealed to mourners to arrive early and comply with security arrangements to ensure a dignified and orderly farewell befitting the memory of the former First Lady.
“We urge mourners to come in early and adhere strictly to the directives of the security and protocol team so we can have an orderly process at the burial ceremony,” the family noted.
