The Ghana Police Service has arrested four individuals believed to be connected to the murder of the Akwamuhene of Tanosu in the Bono East Region.

According to a statement issued by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the suspects — identified as Issifu Addae, also known as Akwasi Addae; Stephen Gyamfi; Augustine Arhinful; and Martha Mansah — were picked up as part of ongoing investigations into the killing. Authorities have also named four additional persons as individuals of interest and have launched a manhunt to locate them.

Preliminary police findings suggest that the deceased chief was destooled by the Akwamuhene of Tanosu, a decision he allegedly contested, leading to numerous disputes and legal battles with the royal family. Investigators believe these tensions may be linked to the circumstances surrounding his death.

The four suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with further investigations. The CID assured the public that efforts have been intensified to track down the remaining suspects to ensure that all involved face the full rigours of the law.

The statement was signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer of the CID.
