Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo this morning hosted a breakfast meeting with the five presidential aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as part of efforts to strengthen party cohesion ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The meeting, held at his Nima residence in Accra, followed the completion of internal processes that cleared the aspirants to contest for the party’s presidential nomination. According to the former President, the engagement was to provide a platform for frank discussions on matters of common interest, particularly the unity, welfare, and resilience of the party in the face of a competitive internal contest.

In attendance were Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong, Hon. Dr. Bryan Acheampong, MP, H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, MP, and Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong—the five aspirants seeking to lead the NPP into the 2028 elections.

Also present were senior party figures, including the Minority Leader, Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, MP; former Chief of Staff, Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare; Chairman of the Council of Elders, Hon. Hackman Owusu-Agyemang; Acting National Chairman, Mr. Danquah Smith Buttey; and General Secretary, Mr. Justin Kodua Frimpong.

Former President Akufo-Addo expressed appreciation to the aspirants and party leadership for honouring his invitation and commended the spirit of candour and camaraderie that characterised the deliberations. He emphasised the need for a united front as the party prepares for its presidential primaries and beyond.
The meeting is seen as a significant step in fostering harmony within the NPP, with the former President reiterating his commitment to ensuring that the party emerges from the primaries stronger and more united.
