Two young Ghanaian footballers, Prince Amoako Junior and Caleb Yirenkyi, have earned spots on the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) Football Observatory’s list of the world’s top-performing under-20 players.
Amoako Junior ranked fourth globally among forwards in Europe’s non-big five leagues, while his FC Nordsjaelland teammate Yirenkyi also claimed fourth place in the midfielders’ category.

The recognition follows their outstanding start to the season at senior level for the Danish Superliga side.
Eighteen-year-old Amoako Junior has been in excellent form, netting three goals and delivering one assist in just seven appearances. Yirenkyi, on the other hand, has enjoyed a rapid rise, making his senior debut for Ghana’s Black Stars and contributing one goal and two assists for Nordsjaelland.
Both players are graduates of Ghana’s prestigious Right to Dream Academy and have quickly become influential figures in their club’s campaign.
Their stellar performances have also earned them nominations for the August Young Player of the Month award.
Amoako Junior will be vying for the accolade against Yirenkyi, fellow Ghanaian Bismarck Edjeodji (Vejle Boldklub), Thomas Jorgensen (Viborg), Clement Bischoff (formerly of Brøndby IF, now with Red Bull Salzburg), and Hjalte Bidstrup (Viborg).
