Abronye Remanded in Police Custody; Court Date Set for September 12

The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, was today arraigned before the Accra Circuit Court on charges of offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace.

The court, presided over by a Circuit Court judge, remanded him into police custody and ordered that he reappear on Friday, September 12, 2025.

Mr. Baffoe’s arrest on September 8 followed an invitation to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), where he was interrogated before being charged. The case has drawn significant public attention, coming just days after he reportedly sought political asylum in eight countries, citing alleged political persecution and threats to his life.

The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that due process will be followed as the matter proceeds in court.
