President Mahama Visits Japan, Singapore to Strengthen Ties and Attract Investment

President John Dramani Mahama has embarked on a two-nation official visit to Japan and Singapore, aimed at deepening bilateral relations and promoting Ghana as a prime destination for investment.

In Japan, President Mahama will participate in the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), where he is scheduled to speak at a plenary session focused on trade and investment. He will also headline the Ghana Presidential Investment Forum, highlighting opportunities under the government’s Resetting Ghana agenda.

The President is expected to hold high-level meetings with Japanese officials, including Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, and engage with executives from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO). Discussions will center on infrastructure development, trade partnerships, and technical cooperation.

Following his engagements in Japan, President Mahama will continue to Singapore for a three-day state visit. There, he will meet with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, and participate in the Africa-Singapore Business Forum. He is slated to deliver a keynote address outlining Ghana’s reform efforts and inviting Singaporean investment.

According to the Presidency, the visits are part of Ghana’s broader strategy to enhance cooperation in technology, finance, infrastructure, and human capital development, while expanding market access for Ghanaian goods and services.

The presidential delegation is expected to return upon completion of the official engagements in Singapore.
