Parliament Approves Four Deputy Minister Nominees

Parliament has given the green light to four Deputy Minister nominees following the adoption of the Appointments Committee’s report.

The House, acting on a consensus recommendation from the Committee, approved the appointments of:

  • Hon. Dorcas Affo-Toffey, MP for Jomoro – Deputy Minister for Transport
  • Hon. James Gyakye Quayson, MP for Assin North – Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs
  • Hon. Mohammed Adam Sukparu, MP for Sissala West – Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations
  • Hon. Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, MP for Essikado-Ketan – Deputy Minister for Health

Presenting the Committee’s findings to the House, Chairman Hon. Bernard Ahiafor explained that the vetting process was thorough and transparent. He said the Committee reviewed all relevant documentation, invited public submissions, and held a public hearing on 25th July 2025, where the nominees were grilled on their qualifications, professional experience, and plans for their respective Ministries.

“Following thorough scrutiny, the Committee found all nominees competent and suitable. It therefore recommends by consensus that the House approves the nomination of all four individuals for appointment as Deputy Ministers” he stated.

The nominations were initially referred to the Appointments Committee by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, on 17th July 2025. This followed the formal submission by President John Dramani Mahama, in line with Articles 78(1) and 79(1) of the 1992 Constitution.

With this approval, the four MPs are expected to assume their new roles and support their respective sector Ministers in driving government policy and service delivery.
