The Bank of Ghana has been recognised by the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) for its commitment to transparency and constructive engagement with the media. The honour was conferred during the Second World Press Freedom Day (WPFD) Honours Night held in Accra on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
According to the GJA, the award acknowledges the Bank’s sustained efforts in advancing national development through open communication and accountability. The Association emphasised that the Bank’s collaboration with the media has contributed to informed public discourse and strengthened democratic governance.
Representing the institution at the ceremony, Bernard Otabil, Director of Communications, and Mrs. Emelia Awuviri, Director of the External Facilities and Project Administration Department, received the award on behalf of the Bank.
The WPFD Honours Night, organised annually by the GJA, celebrates individuals and institutions that have championed media excellence, press freedom, and national development. This year’s event highlighted the importance of partnerships between public institutions and the media in promoting transparency and accountability.
The recognition of the Bank of Ghana underscores the growing role of public institutions in fostering trust and openness, reinforcing the media’s mission to inform and empower citizens.
