Minister Launches Free Primary Healthcare in Oti Region

The Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has officially launched the #FreePrimaryHealthcare initiative in the Oti Region, marking a major milestone in the government’s drive to expand access to affordable healthcare across Ghana.

At a regional town hall meeting in Dambai, Hon. Akandoh outlined President John Dramani Mahama’s transformative social intervention, emphasizing its role in reshaping healthcare delivery for communities nationwide. The event brought together key stakeholders, including the Regional Minister and the Regional Health Directorate, who received the first tranche of medical equipment, motorcycles, and tricycles to support the program’s rollout.

The Minister later visited Kpelema, where he handed over essential medical equipment to the local CHPS compound. He also engaged directly with community members, explaining the benefits of the initiative and reaffirming government’s commitment to ensuring that primary healthcare services are accessible to all, regardless of location or income.

“This marks a significant step in advancing His Excellency John Dramani Mahama’s vision to make quality healthcare accessible and affordable for all Ghanaians,” Hon. Akandoh stated.

The launch of the #FreePrimaryHealthcare initiative in Oti Region is expected to strengthen frontline health facilities, improve mobility for health workers, and enhance service delivery in rural communities.
