Eleven Arrested in Adambrobe Chieftaincy Dispute Over Possession of Arms

 The Eastern Regional Police Command has announced the arrest of eleven individuals in connection with the ongoing chieftaincy dispute at Adambrobe, near Aburi.

According to a statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Regional Police Headquarters in Koforidua, ten suspects were initially apprehended on Sunday, May 3, 2026, for unlawful possession of arms and ammunition. The suspects include a farmer, a vulcanizer, a taxi driver, a businessman, and several private security men.

Items retrieved during the operation included five pump-action rifles, twenty-three live cartridges, a taser, six mobile phones, and body armour. Two vehicles — an unregistered Ford pickup and a Toyota Corolla with registration number GE 2560-19 — were also impounded.

Police later arrested an additional suspect, Douglas Amoako Danquah, on April 4, 2026, after he was sighted participating in a procession within the township, bringing the total number of arrests to eleven.

The suspects are currently in custody assisting with investigations.

C/Inspector Bridget Opoku, who signed the release, assured the public of the Command’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability in Adambrobe. She urged all parties involved in the dispute to exercise restraint as investigations continue.
