Parliament to Reconvene on May 21 for Second Meeting of Second Session

 Ghana’s Parliament will reconvene on Thursday, May 21, 2026, to begin the Second Meeting of the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.

This was announced in an official notice issued from the Office of the Speaker at Parliament House in Accra. The notice, signed by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, stated that proceedings will commence at 10:00 a.m. on the scheduled date.

The directive was issued in accordance with Order 58 of the Standing Orders of Parliament, which governs the summoning of sittings. The upcoming meeting is expected to bring lawmakers back to the chamber after recess to deliberate on key national issues, consider pending legislation, and perform oversight functions.

The notice, dated May 4, 2026, formally informs Members of Parliament and the public of the resumption, signaling the continuation of parliamentary business in the current legislative session.

Parliament is anticipated to address a range of matters, including economic policy discussions, government accountability measures, and committee reports that were pending prior to the break.
