The Parliamentary Select Committee on Works and Housing has invited the State Housing Company (SHC) to present a comprehensive report on the status of implementation across 34 classified areas, as part of efforts to improve efficiency and strengthen accountability in the housing sector.
During the presentation, SHC management reported full implementation in key areas including Procurement Threshold Compliance, Estates Regeneration, and Contract Agreements. Officials explained that procurement decisions are now centrally approved, estate redevelopment projects are actively underway, and all contracts are properly signed and witnessed to ensure transparency.
However, the report noted that some areas remain partially implemented. Issues such as Unsupported Balances and Timely Customer Feedback are still being addressed, with ongoing measures aimed at closing gaps and enhancing responsiveness to clients.
The presentation underscored SHC’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and improved service delivery. Members of the Committee commended the company’s progress while urging management to accelerate efforts in outstanding areas to ensure the housing sector delivers effectively on its mandate.
The engagement forms part of Parliament’s broader oversight role in monitoring state institutions, ensuring compliance with standards, and promoting accountability in national development.
