The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested Cyril George Carstensen Lutterodt, popularly known as Counsellor Lutterodt, following comments he allegedly made in a viral video that incited youth to storm the residence of the late highlife legend, Daddy Lumba.
Police say preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect’s remarks were offensive and had the potential to cause a breach of the peace. The arrest underscores law enforcement’s determination to clamp down on incitement and maintain public order.
Counsellor Lutterodt has since been granted bail but is expected to appear in court on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. He faces charges of offensive conduct conducive to breach of the peace under Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), as well as inciting violence under the Criminal Offences Act and the Public Order Act, 1994 (Act 491).
The CID has assured the public that it will continue to enforce laws designed to safeguard peace and security, particularly in cases where public statements risk inflaming tensions.
This case has drawn significant attention, given the prominence of both the suspect and the late musician, and is expected to spark wider debate about responsible speech in Ghana’s public space.
