United Party Calls for Integrity and Transformation as Ghana Marks 69 Years of Independence

The United Party (UP) has issued a strong call for national transformation as Ghana celebrates its 69th Independence Day, urging citizens and leaders alike to move beyond political stability and embrace integrity, accountability, and economic progress.

In a statement released today under the theme “Ghana at 69: From Stability to Transformation,” the party paid tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the generation that secured independence in 1957. The release highlighted Ghana’s achievements in building a democratic culture and sustaining political stability, which continue to earn respect across Africa and beyond.

However, the UP cautioned that stability alone is not enough. “The true promise of independence was not merely political freedom; it was the creation of a nation where integrity guides leadership, institutions serve the people faithfully, and national resources are used to advance the collective prosperity of all Ghanaians,” the statement read.

The party identified corruption and the erosion of accountability as major threats to Ghana’s progress, warning that these issues weaken institutions, divert resources meant for development, and undermine public confidence in governance. It called for renewed commitment to integrity and patriotic service, stressing that public office must remain “a sacred trust exercised solely in the interest of the Ghanaian people.”

As the nation commemorates nearly seven decades of independence, the UP emphasized that Ghana’s future depends not only on maintaining stability but on translating it into economic growth, ethical leadership, and national transformation.

“On this 69th Independence Day, let us recommit ourselves to building a Ghana worthy of the sacrifices of the past and the hopes of generations yet to come,” the statement concluded.

The release was signed by Solomon Owusu, Director of Communications and Spokesperson for the United Party.
