The three-day Capacity Building Programme for Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Western and Central Regions has concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening decentralisation and reinforcing accountability in local governance.
As part of the programme, the Committee undertook its final monitoring visit to proposed sites in Elmina, Mankessim, Agona East, and Agona West earmarked for the 24-hour Market project in the Central Region. The monitoring exercise marked the end of the three-day capacity-building and oversight activities.
Chairperson of the Committee, Honourable Sawyerr Maame Pokuah Queenstar, reaffirmed her dedication to ensuring the successful completion of the project. “We remain strongly committed to seeing this initiative brought to full completion,” she stated, underscoring the importance of the 24-hour Market project in boosting local economic activity and enhancing service delivery at the community level.
The programme is expected to strengthen the operational capacity of MMDAs, improve coordination, and reinforce accountability mechanisms in line with Ghana’s decentralisation agenda.
