President Mahama Praises Trade Minister as KEDA Expands with New Glass Factory in Shama

President John Dramani Mahama has commended the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, for her hard work and sterling performance in advancing Ghana’s industrialisation agenda.

The President’s praise came during a series of industrial engagements in Shama on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, which included the sod-cutting ceremony for a new float glass manufacturing facility by KEDA (Ghana) Ceramics Company Limited, the commissioning of a modern sanitary wares factory, and the inauguration of the fifth phase of the company’s tile production line.

President Mahama highlighted the Ministry’s critical role in facilitating industrial growth, attracting investment, and creating jobs, noting that Hon. Ofosu-Adjare’s leadership has significantly advanced Ghana’s trade and industrialisation drive. He described the expansion of KEDA Ceramics’ operations as a major milestone in Ghana’s industrial transformation agenda.

“This investment is important because it marks another significant step in our country’s industrial transformation plans,” the President stated.

The new glass factory is expected to produce 1,400 tonnes of glass daily, significantly reducing imports. It is projected to generate an estimated $100 million in annual exports, strengthen local supply chains, and create sustainable employment opportunities.

Hon. Ofosu-Adjare commended the management of KEDA Ceramics Ghana, describing their investment as bold and visionary. She reiterated President Mahama’s message that “Ghana is open for business” and urged private sector operators in garments and textiles, pharmaceuticals, digital infrastructure, agro-processing, and other sectors to deepen their presence and partnerships in Ghana.

The Managing Director of KEDA Ceramics Ghana, Mr. Li Wei, and the Chairman of Twyford Group, Mr. Shen Yanchang, also praised the Minister for her proactive engagement and foresight, reaffirming their commitment to Ghana and assuring stakeholders of strict adherence to environmental standards.

The expansion is expected to create substantial employment opportunities, reduce reliance on imports of building materials, and position Ghana as a key manufacturing hub within the sub-region.
