President Mahama Urges Shift from Diplomacy to Dealmaking at Ghana–Zambia Business Forum

President John Dramani Mahama has called for a bold reorientation of Ghana–Zambia relations, urging both nations to translate political goodwill into tangible economic outcomes.

Speaking at the Ghana–Zambia Business Forum, President Mahama stressed that the gathering was not a ceremonial occasion but a strategic platform to forge concrete commercial partnerships.

“This business dialogue is not a ceremonial event; it is a strategic platform to convert political goodwill into concrete commercial partnerships, to move our relationship decisively from diplomacy to dealmaking, and from solidarity to shared prosperity,” he declared.

The President’s remarks underscored the importance of leveraging bilateral cooperation to unlock opportunities in trade, investment, energy, mining, agriculture, and tourism. He highlighted the need for private sector engagement to complement government initiatives, ensuring that the revitalised Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation delivers measurable benefits for citizens of both countries.

Mahama’s call reflects a growing emphasis on economic diplomacy across Africa, where nations are increasingly seeking to transform historic bonds of solidarity into frameworks for shared growth and prosperity.
