130 Ghanaian Health Professionals Depart for Antigua Under Labour Exchange Programme

About 130 Ghanaian health professionals have left the country for Antigua to take up three-year contracts abroad under the government’s Labour Exchange Programme.

The departure ceremony, held at the Kotoka International Airport, was led by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, who represented the government. He commended the professionals for their commitment to serve beyond Ghana’s borders and urged them to uphold the nation’s reputation through dedication and discipline.

Mr. Debrah explained that the Labour Exchange Programme is part of government’s broader initiative to create employment opportunities for skilled workers while strengthening international cooperation in the health sector. He noted that the deployment would not only provide valuable experience for the professionals but also enhance Ghana’s image as a reliable source of skilled manpower.

The health workers, drawn from various disciplines, expressed optimism about the opportunity, describing it as a chance to broaden their expertise and contribute to global healthcare delivery.

Officials at the ceremony emphasized that the programme would continue to open doors for Ghanaian professionals in other sectors, reinforcing the country’s commitment to building strong bilateral ties and addressing unemployment challenges at home.
