Government Pays GH₵10.8 Billion DDEP Coupon in Full

The Government of Ghana has disbursed GH₵10,816,840,318.26 to bondholders under the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP), fulfilling its latest coupon payment obligation in full and in cash.

The Ministry of Finance confirmed in a statement issued Wednesday, August 19, 2026, that this marks the third consecutive coupon settlement made entirely in cash and on schedule. The payment brings the total amount disbursed to bondholders since 2025 to GH₵41.36 billion.

Officials described the timely settlement as evidence of fiscal discipline and a firm commitment to meeting debt obligations. The Ministry noted that the move is expected to bolster investor confidence, reduce sovereign default risk, and reinforce Ghana’s financial credibility.

“The Government assures bondholders, investors and the public that all future DDEP obligations will also be paid in full and on schedule,” the release stated.

The Ministry emphasized that consistent fulfillment of debt commitments remains central to stabilizing the economy and sustaining trust in Ghana’s financial system.
