The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has strongly condemned the circulation of false and misleading publications aimed at distorting its enforcement actions and undermining public confidence in its operations.
In a statement issued by its Media Relations Unit, GoldBod urged the public to disregard fabricated claims and rely solely on information disseminated through its official communication channels. The Board called on media organisations, bloggers, and social media users to verify information before publication and uphold responsible journalism.
A separate release dated August 3, 2026, specifically addressed a viral social media allegation that Dominic Bonsu, proprietor of Dominic Bonsu Ventures, had absconded with GH₵200 million belonging to GoldBod. The Board clarified that Bonsu was never a bodyguard or personal security officer to its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi, and that GoldBod had not lost or advanced any money to him or his company.
GoldBod explained that Dominic Bonsu Ventures’ licence was suspended for breaches under the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140). Bonsu was subsequently arrested and remains in lawful custody as legal proceedings continue. The Board described the social media claims as false, malicious, and intended to mislead the public.
Reaffirming its mandate, GoldBod stressed its commitment to enforcing Ghana’s gold trading laws fairly, professionally, and without fear or favour.
