The Bank of Ghana has cautioned the public against engaging with unlicensed digital credit service providers operating in the country without authorization.
In a notice issued on August 3, 2026, the central bank stressed that such entities violate customer data privacy, consumer protection, and regulatory standards. It warned banks, specialised deposit‑taking institutions (SDIs), and payment service providers (PSPs) not to facilitate transactions for unlicensed operators.
The Bank listed twenty mobile loan applications currently operating illegally, including Adamfo Loan, Agyapacredit, Amanfi Loan, Arco Cash, Aya Lend, Bucks Now, CediGo, DumboCash, FCash, Gh Loans, Hasty Credit, Omanpesa, PoPoCedi, Ready Money, Sika Tap, Sikapa Loan, and Zigwe Loan.
Officials reiterated that the operations of these platforms contravene the Directive for Digital Credit Service Providers in Ghana (September 2025) and other relevant laws. The Bank urged members of the public to report unlicensed loan activities to its Fintech and Innovation Department for investigation and enforcement action.
Signed by Aimee Vyda Quashie, Secretary of the Bank, the notice reaffirmed the regulator’s commitment to safeguarding consumers and maintaining the integrity of Ghana’s financial sector.
