The Ministry of Finance has announced that Ghana stands to benefit from nearly 1,000 new jobs and about US$2 billion in economic gains over the next five years.
According to the Ministry, the anticipated benefits will be derived from fuel savings, foreign exchange savings, taxes, levies, and dividends. Officials say the initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen the country’s fiscal position while creating employment opportunities for citizens.
The Ministry underscored that the projected gains will not only ease pressure on Ghana’s foreign reserves but also contribute significantly to government revenue streams. The expected job creation is seen as a boost to the labour market, particularly in sectors linked to energy and infrastructure.
The announcement comes as government intensifies measures to stabilize the economy and ensure sustainable growth. The Finance Ministry expressed confidence that the initiative will reinforce Ghana’s long‑term development agenda by combining employment generation with fiscal consolidation.
