The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has announced a donation of US$250,000 (approximately GHS3 million) to assist victims of the recent devastating floods in Ghana.
In a press statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on August 2, 2026, the government expressed appreciation to ECOWAS for its solidarity and compassion during this period of national distress. The Ministry assured the public that the funds will be transferred upon receipt, with transparency and accountability guiding the process.
The donation underscores ECOWAS’s commitment to regional cooperation and humanitarian support, reinforcing the community’s role in responding to crises affecting member states. Ghana’s Foreign Ministry noted that the assistance will provide relief to affected communities and contribute to recovery efforts.
The statement was addressed to all media houses and included official contact channels of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reaffirming its pledge to keep the public informed as the relief process unfolds.
