The Human Trafficking Secretariat under the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has convened a stakeholders’ meeting to compile and validate Ghana’s 2025 Annual Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report.
The meeting brought together representatives from key institutions, partner organisations and agencies engaged in anti-human trafficking efforts to review data, assess progress and contribute to the national reporting process.
Head of the Human Trafficking Secretariat, Madam Abena Annobea Asare, underscored the importance of collaboration among stakeholders, stressing that accurate, timely and credible data is vital for effective national reporting. She noted that the compilation and validation process is central to reflecting Ghana’s efforts, identifying gaps, and shaping interventions aimed at preventing trafficking, protecting victims and prosecuting offenders.
Deliberations centred on the 2025 TIP questionnaire, victim identification and prosecution data, and the validation of submissions that will inform the official government report. Participants worked to clarify reporting requirements and address outstanding data issues to ensure consistency and accuracy across institutions.
Ghana’s Annual TIP Report provides a comprehensive assessment of trafficking trends, outlines government interventions in prevention, victim protection and prosecution, and measures progress in combating the crime. It also serves as a critical tool for policy review, programme planning and national decision-making, while fulfilling Ghana’s regional and international reporting obligations.
The engagement forms part of the Ministry’s broader efforts to strengthen coordination, improve data quality and promote a multi-sectoral response to trafficking in persons.
