Ghana has recorded a significant decline in multidimensional poverty, according to the latest figures released by the Government Statistician, Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu.
The report shows that multidimensional poverty fell from 24.9% in the fourth quarter of 2024 to 23.9% in the first quarter of 2025, and further down to 21.9% by the third quarter of 2025.
This progress translates into more than 360,000 people moving out of multidimensional poverty between Q2 and Q3 of 2025 alone, underscoring improvements in living standards across the country.
The multidimensional poverty index measures deprivation across several indicators, including health, education, and living conditions, offering a broader picture of poverty beyond income levels.
Dr. Iddrisu emphasized that the decline reflects ongoing efforts to improve social and economic outcomes, while urging sustained policies to consolidate the gains.
The highlights of the 2024 Q1 to 2025 Q3 Multidimensional Poverty Index Report were released today, providing detailed insights into Ghana’s progress in reducing poverty.
