Mahama to Receive Final Bawku Peace Mediation Report

President John Dramani Mahama will on Thursday, December 11, 2025, formally receive the concluding report on the Bawku peace mediation initiative at a ceremony to be held at the Jubilee House.

The submission of the document marks a major milestone in the nationwide drive to bring lasting resolution to the protracted unrest in Bawku and surrounding communities.

The report is the outcome of extensive mediation efforts spearheaded by the Asantehene, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, whose stewardship has been pivotal to Ghana’s broader reconciliation process.

Officials say the occasion will highlight the collective resolve of traditional rulers, government agencies, civil society organizations, and international partners to advance unity and sustainable peace in the conflict-affected area.

The ceremony, scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m., will draw senior government representatives, members of the mediation committee, and distinguished guests.

Traditional leaders and other stakeholders who played key roles in the peace process are also expected to be present.

Among the institutions invited are the National Peace Council, Christian Council of Ghana, Office of the National Chief Imam, the Catholic Secretariat, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the British High Commission, as well as regional delegations from the Upper East and North East regions. The Upper East Regional House of Chiefs and officials from National Security will also participate in the event.
