Police in Ghana’s Northern Region have made a major breakthrough in a kidnapping case, arresting three suspects and rescuing a 42-year-old victim following an intelligence-led operation along the Eastern Corridor.

According to a press release issued on Monday, December 8, 2025, by the Northern Regional Police Command, the arrests were carried out on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Bokpaba, a village along the Bimbilla–Yendi highway.
The suspects were identified as Haruna Seidu, Amidu Bandi and Osman Bandi. Police said the trio, believed to be part of a four-man syndicate, kidnapped the victim in Wapuli, a community in the Yendi District, and demanded a ransom of GH¢100,000 from his family as a condition for his release.
Upon receiving the report, a five-man team from the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (RPID) was deployed to Wapuli to conduct surveillance, rescue the victim and arrest the suspects.
The operation culminated on Friday, December 5, 2025, when officers successfully rescued the victim and arrested the suspects after an exchange of gunfire.
Police said the three suspects are currently in custody and are expected to be arraigned before court. The fourth suspect, who reportedly sustained gunshot wounds, is believed to be on the run.
The Northern Regional Police Command has appealed to members of the public to provide any information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining suspect.
