The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has pledged a decisive crackdown on financial infractions across government ministries, departments and agencies, stressing that accountability in public financial management will no longer be optional.

Speaking at a recent meeting with Chief Directors and key audit heads, Dr. Forson said a clear path has been charted for implementing the recommendations of the 2024 Audit Report. He expressed concern that persistent waste of national resources sends the wrong signal about Ghana and risks undermining the peace, stability and confidence the nation has worked hard to restore.

“We cannot continue to lose scarce national resources through infractions that are completely avoidable. Ghana truly deserves better,” the Minister stated.
He urged officials to drive infractions down to the barest minimum and reminded them that specialised courts are now ready to prosecute breaches of financial laws.
“This is a new chapter. Accountability will no longer be optional. Discipline in public financial management is not just a requirement. It is a duty we owe to every Ghanaian,” Dr. Forson emphasised.
The Finance Minister’s remarks signal government’s renewed commitment to enforcing discipline and transparency in the management of public funds.
