Group Submits Petition for Removal of Special Prosecutor to President

Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Shamima Muslim has assured Ghanaians that no citizen should feel intimidated when exercising their constitutional rights, following the submission of a petition to President John Dramani Mahama seeking the removal of Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng.

The petition was delivered after a march dubbed “Agro Ne Fom,” organised by a group of citizens who argue that the Special Prosecutor has not effectively carried out his mandate.

Lead convenor Apostle Abraham Larbi Lincoln said the demonstration was intended to draw attention to what the group views as inefficiencies within the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

Receiving the petition on behalf of the President, Shamima Muslim stressed the value of freedom of expression and reaffirmed government’s commitment to protecting citizens’ rights.

“It is important that people freely exercise their constitutional right to express themselves. His Excellency has assured all citizens, regardless of political affiliation, that he upholds the rights of the people.

He has emphasised that no one should feel fearful in expressing their rights. We see today’s demonstration as an affirmation of our constitution as a vibrant, living document,” she noted.
