The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has announced a major breakthrough in Ghana’s energy sector following the successful upgrade of ENI’s gas infrastructure, which has increased daily gas supply from 245 million to 270 million standard cubic feet.
The Ministry described the development as a “significant milestone” in the country’s quest for energy security, noting that the additional gas will help stabilise power generation and drive long-term economic growth.
In a statement issued on Monday, July 14, 2025, the Ministry expressed appreciation to ENI and all stakeholders in the energy value chain for their role in delivering the upgrade.
“This increase in gas supply marks an important step toward securing a reliable and sustainable energy future for Ghana. It will strengthen the power sector and fuel broader economic advancement,” the statement read.
The Ministry also commended the general public for their patience and cooperation during the implementation phase, urging continued support as Ghana pushes forward with its energy transformation agenda.
Speaking to journalists, the Ministry’s Head of Communication, Mr. Richmond Rockson, reaffirmed government’s commitment to delivering consistent and improved electricity supply to all corners of the country.
“We are working tirelessly to build a modern and resilient energy sector that meets the needs of every Ghanaian. This upgrade is just one of many steps in that direction,” Mr. Rockson stated
The infrastructure upgrade is expected to ease pressure on the national grid and reduce disruptions in power supply, especially during peak demand periods.
