Budgetary allocations have been made to settle your unpaid salaries – GES assures newly posted teachers

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially responded to concerns raised by newly posted teachers who picketed its headquarters early Monday morning, June 23, 2025.

The teachers, who assumed duty in September 2024 picketed at the GES head office in Accra to demand payment of 10 months salary arrears and the issuance of Staff IDs.

In a statement released on Tuesday, June 24, GES reiterated its commitment to addressing the matter urgently.

“We acknowledge and deeply empathise with the concerns of the newly posted teachers,” the statement read. “Their welfare is a top priority, and we are working diligently to resolve the issues at hand,” the statement said.
According to GES, the reason for the unpaid salaries stems from an expired financial clearance that was inherited by the current management. GES said the clearance, which allowed for the processing of salaries, expired on December 31, 2024
The Service assured that it has been actively engaging the Ministry of Finance to secure new provisions.
