DVLA orders mandatory notice of ownership transfer of mining, construction equipment within 14 days

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has informed all dealers and owners of mining and construction equipment about a mandatory notice to notify the Authority of a change in ownership of such equipment within fourteen days after sale in accordance with the Road Traffic Regulation, 2012 (L.I 2180).

DVLA says failure to comply with this requirement could result in legal implications.

The Authority expressed concern over the widespread failure by individuals and businesses to register ownership changes after sale to new owners.

Consequently, the Authority is calling on all stakeholders in the mining and construction sectors to ensure that they notify the Authority of equipment ownership transfers.

“In light of this, and having taken steps to register these equipment in the name of dealers and importers at the various ports of entry, DVLA advises all dealers and owners of mining and construction equipment to ensure that transfer of ownership is effected immediately after sale.

“DVLA wishes to indicate that it will be enforcing this regulation strictly and any dealer or owner who fails to comply will face the full rigors of the law.

“All dealers and owners of mining and construction equipment are therefore encouraged to visit the nearest DVLA office to facilitate the transfer of ownership of these equipment,” the statement said.

The public is assured of the Authority’s commitment to providing efficient and effective services in this regard.
