The Austrian Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Johannes Gleissner, has paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, in Accra, reaffirming Austria’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.
Ambassador Gleissner praised Ghana’s stable democracy and robust parliamentary oversight, noting that these values provide fertile ground for deeper cooperation. He highlighted new opportunities in technical collaboration and expressed Austria’s strong desire to expand trade and cultural exchanges with Ghana.
In his response, Speaker Bagbin welcomed Austria’s continued support for Ghana’s development agenda and emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in fostering international partnerships. He called for enhanced collaboration in legislative capacity building and urged Austria to increase investment in Ghana’s agricultural value chain and renewable energy sectors.
“Our Parliament stands ready to create the legislative environment that encourages such partnerships, ensuring they benefit the ordinary Ghanaian citizen,” Speaker Bagbin stated, underscoring the shared values of democracy and good governance between the two nations.
The meeting marked another step in Ghana’s efforts to strengthen ties with European partners while advancing economic transformation and sustainable development.
