Algerian Speaker Joins Accra Conference on UN Resolution

The Speaker of the Algerian Parliament, Mr. Azouz Nasri, has arrived in Ghana to take part in the Next Steps High-Level Consultative Conference on the implementation of the landmark United Nations Resolution on the Trafficking of Enslaved Africans.

Mr. Nasri was welcomed at the Jubilee Lounge by Ghana’s First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Bernard Ahiafor, ahead of the opening of the three-day meeting.

Scheduled from June 17 to 19, the conference will bring together leaders, parliamentarians, and stakeholders from across Africa and the diaspora to reflect on the far-reaching implications of the UN Resolution. The gathering aims to advance a coordinated global framework that strengthens advocacy, ensures reparatory justice, and guides practical implementation.

Organizers say the deliberations will provide a platform for reinforcing international solidarity while charting actionable steps to address the historical injustices of the transatlantic trafficking of Africans.

The conference is expected to conclude with a roadmap that places Africa at the center of global efforts to translate the UN Resolution into meaningful change for Africans and people of African descent worldwide.
