According to the release, Form One and Form Two students in Single Track Schools will begin their first semester on September 18, 2026, and remain in school until January 29, 2027. They will then proceed on vacation from January 30 to March 29, 2027, before returning for the second semester from March 30 to July 30, 2027. The academic year ends with vacation on July 31, 2027.
Form Three students in Single Track Schools will also commence their first semester on September 18, 2026, and break on December 18, 2026. They will resume on February 1, 2027, for the second semester, which runs until June 18, 2027, marking the end of their academic year.
For Transitional Schools, the calendar provides detailed schedules combining in-school and online study periods. Form One students will begin in-school sessions from September 18 to November 13, 2026, followed by online learning until December 18, 2026. They will resume in February 2027 and continue alternating between in-school and online periods until August 2027. Form Two and Form Three students have similar structured timelines, designed to balance classroom learning with home-based study.
The GES also outlined key breaks and examination periods for the year. The Christmas break runs from December 19, 2026, to January 4, 2027, while the Easter break is scheduled for March 25–30, 2027. A mid-semester break for Form Two students will take place from June 17–20, 2027. The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) is slated for April 6 to June 18, 2027.
GES urged all stakeholders, including school heads, teachers, parents, and students, to take note of the dates and prepare accordingly. The release was signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at GES.
