Ghana Expresses Solidarity with Mali Following Terrorist Attacks

The Government of Ghana has conveyed its condolences to the Republic of Mali after a series of coordinated terrorist attacks on military positions, including in the capital Bamako, left several casualties on Saturday, April 25. Among the dead is Mali’s Minister of Defence, General Sadio Camara, alongside military personnel and civilians.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ghana described the incident as a tragic turn of events and wished the injured a speedy recovery. The government emphasized that violent extremism “must have no place in our world” and called for stronger collective efforts to combat terrorism in the Sahel region.

The advisory further urged Ghanaian nationals residing in Mali to exercise caution, limit non-essential movements, and maintain regular contact with the Embassy of Ghana in Bamako. Traders and drivers engaged in cross-border activities were also advised to suspend travel until further notice, as authorities in Mali work to stabilize the situation.

“The Government of Ghana reiterates its solidarity with the Government of Mali and assures Ghanaian nationals that their security, safety and well-being remain paramount,” the statement concluded.
