Former Arsenal Midfielder Pleads Not Guilty to New Rape Allegations

Former Arsenal footballer Thomas Partey has pleaded not guilty to two fresh allegations of rape, adding to a series of charges he already faces.

Partey, 32, appeared at Southwark Crown Court where he denied twice raping a woman in London in December 2020. He was previously charged in July last year with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, relating to incidents alleged to have taken place in 2021 and 2022. He has also pleaded not guilty to those charges.

The Ghanaian international, who left Arsenal for Villarreal last summer, now faces a total of seven counts of rape and one of sexual assault involving four women.

Judge Tony Baumgartner, the Recorder of Westminster, ruled on Monday that all allegations will be tried together. The trial, originally scheduled for November this year, may be delayed until January 2027 due to the new charges.

Partey attended court dressed in dark grey trousers, a black jumper over a white shirt, and smart black shoes. He spoke only to confirm his name and enter his pleas.

He remains on bail under the condition that he does not contact the alleged victims.

Partey joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in 2020 in a £45 million deal before departing in June 2025. He is expected to represent Ghana at the World Cup this summer.

The midfielder is next due in court for a pre-trial hearing on 14 May.
