Ghana Reviews National Plan to Eliminate Human Trafficking

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has undertaken a comprehensive review of the National Plan of Action (NPA) for the Elimination of Human Trafficking in Ghana, aimed at strengthening its clarity, implementation, and overall effectiveness.

The review meeting, convened by the Human Trafficking Secretariat (HTS), brought together government officials, civil society representatives, and development partners. In her opening remarks, Madam Abena Annobea Asare, Director of the HTS, underscored the importance of refining the Plan to respond decisively to evolving human trafficking challenges.

Deliberations focused on sharpening the Terms of Reference (TOR) to ensure clarity and effectiveness, while validating the timeline for implementation to guarantee timely, results-driven action. Participants also assessed progress under the existing framework, identifying areas requiring reinforced coordination, improved data management, and stronger operational alignment among implementing agencies.

The review outcomes will guide the finalisation of a strengthened National Plan of Action, providing a clear roadmap for interventions across prevention, protection, prosecution, and partnership. MoGCSP reaffirmed its commitment to lead national efforts in eliminating human trafficking and safeguarding the rights and reintegration of victims, with particular emphasis on women and children who remain most vulnerable.
