First Batch of Ghana Armed Forces Recruits Set to Begin Training

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced the commencement of training for the first batch of 2,000 newly selected recruits, marking a significant milestone in its nationwide recruitment exercise. According to a press release issued by the Department of Public Relations at the General Headquarters in Burma Camp, Accra, the selected recruits are expected to report to their respective regional selection centres on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 0900 hours to receive their appointment letters and prospectus.

This batch is the first of four planned recruitment phases and includes 18 individuals who sustained injuries during last year’s stampede at El-Wak Stadium. Additionally, five recruits were sponsored by families of victims who tragically lost their lives in the incident.

The Armed Forces also extended a message to applicants who were disqualified due to curable medical conditions, encouraging them to seek treatment as they may be reconsidered in future reviews at no cost.

The GAF expressed gratitude to all 16 Regional Administrations for their support in decentralizing the recruitment process, aligning with the government’s directive to bring opportunities closer to citizens.

In a gesture of appreciation, the military confirmed that special consideration is being given to individuals from Sikaman in the Ashanti Region who assisted in last year’s helicopter crash rescue operation. These individuals are under review for inclusion in the second batch of recruits.

Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin of the Ghana Navy signed off the release, assuring the public that the selection process for the remaining batches is ongoing and that the Armed Forces remains committed to recruiting from a pool of highly qualified young applicants.
