The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has strongly dismissed a series of allegations circulating about its recent procurement activities, describing them as “fabricated claims” and “fake news.”
In a detailed statement issued by its Media Relations Officer, Prince Kwame Minkah, the Gold Board addressed accusations ranging from inflated laptop purchases to claims of sole-sourced contracts and conflict of interest.
On the laptop procurement, the Board presented evidence showing that the devices were purchased at prices slightly below prevailing market rates, contrary to claims of overpricing.
The statement also rejected allegations that an office renovation contract worth GHS11 million was awarded through sole sourcing to a company linked to Mr. Stan Dogbe. GoldBod clarified that the contract was awarded through restricted tendering, a process approved by the Public Procurement Authority (PPA). Officials explained that restricted tendering was justified due to urgent operational needs, and emphasized that the process involved competition among multiple contractors.
Responding to claims that the winning contractor, Correca Ghana Limited, lacked a valid Works and Housing Certificate, the Board noted that the company submitted its tender on July 2, 2025, accompanied by a valid certificate. The Entity Tender Committee’s evaluation report, it said, confirmed compliance with procurement requirements.
On conflict of interest allegations, GoldBod stressed that Correca Ghana Limited is co-owned by Eclaire Ghana Limited and Woezor Holdings Ghana Limited, and that Mr. Dogbe is not involved in the company’s day-to-day operations. The Board further stated that Mr. Dogbe played no role in the procurement or evaluation process, and his position as Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations has no bearing on state-owned enterprise procurement.
“The Ghana Gold Board holds dear the principles of transparency and accountability and will continue to uphold these tenets by publishing all contracts it enters into. We have nothing to hide,” the statement concluded.
