The Parliament of Ghana joined the global commemoration of International Women’s Day on March 8, with a statement delivered on the floor of the House by Hon. Helen Adjoa Ntoso, Member of Parliament for Karachi West Constituency.
Hon. Ntoso highlighted the United Nations’ theme for this year’s celebration, “Rights, Justice, Action for All Women”, which she said serves as both a recognition of the achievements of women and girls and a reminder of the work still required to achieve gender equality.
She called for collective efforts to amplify women’s voices, dismantle barriers, and promote practical measures that will ensure every woman and girl in Ghana enjoys equal rights, access to justice, and real opportunities.
Members of Parliament from both sides of the House contributed to the debate, commending the resilience and hard work of Ghanaian women across all sectors. The House reaffirmed its commitment to advancing policies that empower women and safeguard their rights.
International Women’s Day, observed annually on March 8, continues to serve as a platform for reflection, advocacy, and action toward building inclusive societies where women and men can thrive equally.
