Mahama Pledges Recruitment of More Health Workers

President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to recruit additional health professionals onto the national payroll as part of efforts to strengthen Ghana’s healthcare delivery system.

Presenting the 2026 State of the Nation Address in Parliament, Mahama said his government is committed to closing staffing gaps in public health facilities across the country.

He explained that the recruitment drive will cover nurses, midwives, laboratory technicians, and other allied health professionals who have completed their training but remain unemployed.

According to the President, the initiative forms part of a broader strategy to expand access to quality healthcare, particularly in rural and underserved areas. He noted that increasing the health workforce will ease the burden on existing staff and improve service delivery.

Mahama further assured that government will continue to invest in health infrastructure, equipment, and logistics to complement the addition of new personnel.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening the health sector to ensure that all citizens receive timely and reliable medical care.

The announcement was one of the key highlights of the 2026 State of the Nation Address, which outlined government priorities for national development.
