Cyber Security Authority to Establish Four Zonal Offices to Strengthen Cybersecurity

The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has announced plans to establish four zonal offices across Ghana as part of efforts to bolster the country’s cybersecurity framework and combat the growing threat of cybercrime.

The decision was reached at the end of a three-day Functional Leads Retreat held in Aburi, where key resolutions were adopted to enhance Ghana’s digital safety and public awareness. The new offices will be located in Kumasi, Ho, Cape Coast, and Tamale, overseeing operations in the middle, coastal, eastern, and northern zones. Authorities say further expansion is expected to ensure nationwide coverage.

Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Mr. Samuel Nartey George, underscored the government’s commitment to safeguarding Ghana’s digital ecosystem. He noted that the establishment of zonal offices forms part of a broader national strategy to clamp down on cybercrime syndicates and strengthen public education on cybersecurity.

“Cybersecurity is critical to the digital economy, especially at a time when cybercrime is on the rise. These offices will help us decentralize operations and bring protection closer to the people,” the Minister said, while assuring CSA staff of improved working conditions.

CSA Director-General, Mr. Divine Selase Agbeti, outlined the Authority’s strategic vision, “Leading Africa in Cybersecurity Excellence (LACE),” urging staff to lead with integrity, purpose, and professionalism in pursuit of this goal.

The retreat also featured training sessions in Appreciative Inquiry Leadership and Public Financial Management, designed to strengthen institutional effectiveness and leadership capacity within the Authority.

The CSA believes the new zonal offices will serve as a major step toward building resilience against cyber threats and positioning Ghana as a leader in cybersecurity across Africa.
