Ghana Secures $12.83m AfDB Grant for Big Push Feasibility Studies

Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson has signed a US$12.83 million grant agreement with the African Development Bank (AfDB) to finance feasibility studies for major infrastructure and development projects under the government’s Big Push programme.

The funding will support detailed designs, costings, and environmental and social impact assessments to ensure the projects are ready for construction. The key projects earmarked include:

  • A proposed interchange at the 37 Military Hospital
  • Market redevelopment at Agbogbloshie, Techiman, Sekondi, and Mankessim
  • Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones in the Afram Plains, Nsawam, and Builsa

Minister Forson expressed appreciation to the AfDB and its Country Manager, Eyerusalem Fasika, for their continued partnership.

“I am grateful to the African Development Bank for their strong support. Our aim is to complete these studies early enough to allow construction to begin soon,” he said.

The initiative is expected to lay the groundwork for transformative infrastructure that will boost trade, enhance food processing, and improve market facilities across the country, aligning with Ghana’s broader development agenda.
