Three Arrested in Eastern Region Over Counterfeit U.S. Dollar Notes

The Eastern Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three individuals in Larsi, Odumase-Krobo, for possession of counterfeit U.S. currency amounting to 105 bundles of forged $100 notes.

The suspects, identified as Ebenezer Narh-Tsu (20), George Attor (48), and Bishop Robert Olertety (54), were apprehended on March 11, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation by the Odumase-Krobo District Police. The fake notes were discovered concealed in a student’s trunk at their hideout.

Police reports indicate that Olertety attempted to bribe the arresting officers with GH¢20,000 to secure his release, but the officers rejected the offer and proceeded with the arrests. The suspects were handed over to the Akosombo Divisional CID for further investigation.

On March 13, Narh-Tsu was arraigned before the Odumase-Krobo Circuit Court and granted bail of GH¢100,000 with two sureties. He is required to report to police every Monday for two weeks to assist with ongoing investigations. The other two suspects have been granted police enquiry bail.

The Eastern Regional Police Command has cautioned the public to remain vigilant against counterfeit currencies to avoid financial losses.
