The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has confirmed that a microlight aircraft crashed in Tema on Monday, March 16, 2026.
According to the Authority, the aircraft, registered as 9GADV, was flying from Ho to Accra and was expected to arrive at 1520 Zulu time. The last radio contact with the aircraft was recorded at 1418 Zulu.
There were two persons on board at the time of the crash. The GCAA has not yet released details regarding casualties or the cause of the incident, but assured the public that further information will be provided as investigations progress.
The GCAA, established in 1986, is responsible for regulating air transport in Ghana, managing the country’s airspace, licensing operators, and overseeing aerodrome operations.
The Authority emphasized its commitment to safety and consumer protection in aviation operations, noting that updates will be shared once more facts are established.
