Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, has pledged full government backing for the Black Queens as they prepare to face Cape Verde in their opening Group C match at the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Visiting the team’s training session in Morocco on the eve of the clash, the Minister delivered words of encouragement on behalf of the President, Parliament, and the Ministry. He urged the players to approach the tournament with courage, confidence, and unity.
“The entire country stands behind you. We believe in your talent and your ability to bring glory to Ghana,” Hon. Adams told the squad, stressing that the team carries the hopes of millions of Ghanaians.
He challenged the Queens to seize the opportunity to inspire the next generation and write a memorable chapter in Ghana’s football history. “This tournament is your stage to show Africa the true spirit of the Black Queens,” he said, praising the dedication of the players and coaching staff throughout their preparations.
The Black Queens will open their WAFCON 2026 campaign against Cape Verde today at the Moulay Rachid Stadium, with national expectations riding high on their performance.
