The Ghana Police Service has dismissed media reports alleging that three of six inmates who escaped from custody at the Adabraka District Police Station on 26th April 2026 are connected to the murder of Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi’s father-in-law.
In a statement issued by the Accra Regional Public Affairs Unit, the Command clarified that none of the escapees had been detained in relation to that case. “The individuals involved were never detained at the Adabraka Police Station in connection with the said incident,” the release stressed.
The Police confirmed that three of the escapees have since been re-arrested through swift action, while a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the remaining three. A full investigation has also been initiated into the circumstances surrounding the escape.
Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, assured the public of the Service’s commitment to maintaining law and order. She urged anyone with credible information on the whereabouts of the fugitives to report to the nearest police station.
