The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has unveiled 40 new pickup vehicles to strengthen operations and improve service delivery under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) nationwide.
The vehicles were presented at a ceremony at the Authority’s Head Office in Accra by Chief Executive Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe, who expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for providing the resources to support the Authority’s work.
Dr. Bampoe said the additional vehicles would enable staff to carry out their responsibilities more effectively as the NHIA works toward increasing active membership to 80 percent and advancing Ghana’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda.
“To whom much is given, much is expected. Let us work hard together to achieve the 80 percent membership target and move closer to Universal Health Coverage,” he urged.
He cautioned staff entrusted with the vehicles to use them responsibly and strictly for their intended purposes.
Deputy Chief Executive in charge of Administration and Human Resources, Mr. Ralph Segkpeb, disclosed that the vehicles were procured this year and would be distributed across the country based on operational needs. He noted that the fleet would enhance the Authority’s ability to undertake its activities and improve efficiency nationwide.
Dr. Bampoe also acknowledged the support of Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Health Minister Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, and the NHIA Governing Board in strengthening the Authority’s operations.
